By trade, I build metal additive manufacturing parts for aerospace and defense — space-grade work, where a bad part doesn't get a bad review, it grounds an aircraft or ends a mission. DuffAM is that same standard, applied to the parts you actually need.
DuffAM exists because I kept watching people get burned by 3D printing from both sides of the counter — buyers sold vague “industrial-grade” promises that meant nothing, and printer owners hyped into believing the technology could do anything if they just bought the next upgrade. Neither one is true, and neither one is useful.
I don't need FDM printing to be a miracle to believe in it. I need it to do what it's actually good at, applied with the same discipline I use on parts that go to space — and I need to tell you plainly when it isn't the right tool for what you're building.
I've spent 10+ years in additive manufacturing — metal AM by trade, for aerospace and defense. Polymer printing started as something else entirely: an outlet during a stretch of professional burnout, on a cheap printer I probably should have thrown out. That one printer grew into a home print farm of up to seven machines, and I keep adding more as demand calls for it.
DuffAM is what I built once that hobby turned into something worth offering other people — home décor, functional parts, custom prints and prototypes, and support for local small businesses exploring AM. It's deliberately separate from my day job. This is its own thing, built on nights and weekends, for my family and yours.
01 · Real Tolerances, Stated Plainly
Most 3D printing sites promise “industrial-grade” without ever saying what that means in a measurement. I publish actual numbers instead: accurate to under 0.2mm on parts under 100mm, geometry dependent — and tight tolerances go where they matter, on your critical features, not spread thin as a flat global average. If I can't hit a spec, I say so before you order, not after the part fails.

In my day job, a failed part doesn't just disappoint a customer — it can ground an aircraft or undermine years of research. That mentality doesn't switch off when I walk into my garage. Every DuffAM part gets checked before it goes out, the same way, every time.
