A lithophane looks like almost nothing in normal light. Hold it up to a lamp, place it in a window, or set it in front of an LED — and it glows. Your photo, rendered in light. The detail that comes through stops people.
I've made them for pet memorials, wedding anniversaries, baby photos, and the only photograph a friend had of grandparents he never met. Every one of them gets the same reaction: people can't believe it came off a home printer.
